How to Choose the Right Swim Nappy Size
A swim nappy that fits properly is a swim nappy that works. Too loose and you risk leaks. Too tight and your baby won't be comfortable. Here's how to get it right.
Our Size Guide
| Size | Weight Range | Typical Age |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 4-7kg | Newborn - 6 months |
| Medium | 7-10kg | 6 - 12 months |
| Large | 10-14kg | 12 months - 2 years |
| Extra Large | 14kg+ | 2+ years |
How Should a Swim Nappy Fit?
- Snug around the waist - you should be able to fit one finger between the nappy and their skin.
- Snug around the legs - the leg openings should sit in the crease of the thigh. No gaps, but no red marks either.
- Comfortable when wet - unlike disposables, reusable swim nappies don't swell with water, so the fit stays the same in and out of the pool.
Between Sizes?
If your baby is between sizes, size up. A slightly roomier swim nappy is better than one that's too tight. As long as the leg openings are snug, you're good.
When to Size Up
Time for the next size when:
- The waist is leaving red marks
- The leg openings are digging in
- You can't comfortably fit a finger in the waistband
- It's getting hard to snap or fasten
Remember, swim nappies are sized by weight, not age. Every baby is different, so go by the scales, not the calendar.
