Mama Mantras: Embracing Mindfulness in Motherhood

Motherhood is a journey filled with love, joy, challenges, and growth. Amidst the busyness and beauty of raising babies and toddlers, it's easy for us to forget to take a moment for ourselves, to breathe, reflect, and find peace within the whirlwind of daily life. 

This is where the concept of creating your own Mama rituals and mantras come into play - simple things that can help you bring an element of mindfulness into your everyday routine that don’t demand a lot of time or energy (because we all know these can sometimes be in short supply!). These can become your go-to to bring light into each day and set the tone for peace, calm and positivity in your home.

Mindful Rituals for Mamas

Motherhood can often feel like a marathon, with never-ending to-do lists, constant demands, and unexpected challenges. In the midst of caring for others, we can often find ourselves left off the list but our biggest recommendation for any Mama is to carve out a regular time each day dedicated to your own well-being. Even just 10 minutes can reset your mood, mindset and energy levels for the day.

Our favourite mini rituals:

  • Morning coffee or tea in the sunshine
  • Find a form of movement that is enjoyable and (most importantly) accessible like online Yoga or Pilates classes, walking or running
  • Download a guided meditation app 
  • Start a journaling practice to work through your thoughts and the things you are grateful for
  • Embrace reading over scrolling
  • Slow down your daily shower or skincare ritual, perhaps add in an extra step to make yourself feel pampered

Especially for the early days of motherhood or during busier seasons of parenting, we like to write our top 5 on a list and keep it somewhere like our bathroom mirror - sort of like a ritual menu. Any time you catch yourself feeling overwhelmed or in need of grounding you can go to your list and pick one that feels most aligned at the time. Trust us, the housework can wait.

Mama Mantras provide a pathway for you to cultivate self-compassion, patience, and peace. Create your own simple phrases or affirmations to repeat to yourself each day, guiding your thoughts, actions, and emotions towards a more mindful and positive state. The key is to choose a mantra that speaks to your heart and aligns with your intentions as a mother.

Mama Mantra tips:

Repeat Regularly: Set aside a few moments each day to repeat your chosen mantra. It could be during your morning routine, while nursing your baby, or after bub is in bed. The important thing is to integrate this practice into your daily life consistently.

Anchor to Moments: Use your mantra as an anchor during challenging moments. When you feel overwhelmed or stressed, take a deep breath and repeat your mantra to yourself. Allow it to center you and bring you back to the present moment.

Make them Visible: We have created saveable tiles that you can set as your phone background so that you come across your mantra throughout your day, another idea is writing it down and attaching them to your fridge or mirror.

Each mantra serves as a gentle reminder to stay present, compassionate, and grounded amidst the busyness of raising children.
